Brinkman Team Home Maintenance Tips

Jan. 31. 2025

We typically preach about pre-inspections and really taking care of your asset–because when (if) it comes time to sell you have a lot less prep work to do AND your home is in great shape for potential buyers.

Here are a few of our recommendations–

At least once a year you are going to want to have your dryer vent cleaned out.

I am not referring to the lint trap after every load but the vent between the machine and the wall, for that we call Fireman Dryerman.

As a homeowner I have had issues with appliances from time to time-my go to for appliance repair has been Travis County Appliance repair.

Sometimes for small jobs that I do not have time to investigate (aka: watch a few YouTube videos) regarding how to complete I rely on Thumbtack. Thumbtack is in app where you can upload photos of the task you need, the time that works for you etc. Pro-Tip-I would not put your phone number in for quotes, the calls become annoying, manage through messaging before booking.

Thumbtack can be great for the following Items:

  • Replacing and testing smoke detectors/carbon monoxide detectors
  • Gutter cleanings
  • Caulking around tile and countertops/faucets etc to prevent leaks
  • Power washing, cleaning porches, eaves, sofits
  • Wood rot repair

And other oddities that handymen can handle.

For Glass repair or fixing a broken window pane I have hired Glass Guru.

If taking care of these little home items is not for you and you’d rather hire a company to take care of it for you and regularly-you may want to check out Loyal Home Concierge. They have preventative maintenance measures to help your home stay in tip top shape.
