Lookin’ for a Good Burger Austin!

Nov. 09. 2009

Vegetarians, this blog is not for you (and I know there are a lot of you out there…especially in Austin).

Every now and again I just want a really good, tasty fulfilling burger…and chain fast food need not apply. I know I need to try more actual burger joints, but a few of my top picks are not in burger specialty restaurants, but specializing in tasty food!

A few of my favorites have been the Hawaiian burger Hut’s, P Terry’s healthy take on fast food and Fran’s and Dan’s of course, and then there are some others that aren’t necessarily burger joints that I really enjoy: Hula Hut has a delish Hawaiian style burger. Sullivan’s has a savory burger, that used to be on sale on Sundays. I also enjoy the Hickory burger from Z Tejas (no pickles and onions please) and their deliciously salted thick fries.

A few weeks ago I had a burger from Phil’s Ice House, off Burnet Road. I know their most popular is the “78704” Burger, but I had a “Crestview” Burger, which consists of bacon, bar-b-q sauce and cheese. I tell you what, nothing hits the spot after a long weekend when you wake up starving on a Sunday afternoon! Ever since that burger I don’t want any other burger, maybe because as a creature of habit I know that I have found something good and why risk trying something new and not liking it?! A bonus to Phil’s also it is close to my house and I know that every time it will taste as delicious as the last.

But as an Austinite I am open to trying new things. Have a favorite burger recommendation? I wanna hear it and maybe I will be brave enough to try it.
